Olive Irene (née Benson) Krysa
August 17, 1937 – March 4, 2025
Olive Irene (née Benson) Krysa was born in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, to Wesley and Ida Benson, on August 17th, 1937. She grew up in Wolverine/Burr District and after finishing school she left the family farm to work in Scott, SK. On November 7th, 1958, she married the love of her life, Mike Krysa and together they raised a family of seven lovely children and lived on the farm. Olive was a stay-at-home mom who loved to garden and take care of her plants. She helped Mike with the farming operations which included grain farming, as well as raising cattle and chickens. Some of Olive’s hobbies included reading, baking, canning, gardening and crocheting. Because of her love of crocheting, all her children and grandchildren each received a personal blanket. Olive and Mike moved from the farm in 1985 and made their home in Humboldt. For several years they took care of special needs adults in their own home. Olive lived a full life and enriched the lives of those around her. Olive is lovingly remembered by her children and their families: Alan Krysa of Saskatoon, SK; Joyce (Robert) Blum of Swift Current, SK; Bev Krysa of Regina, SK; Darlene Krysa (Dave Benson) of Humboldt, SK; Maryann (Herman) Reifferscheid of Fulda, SK; her 15 grandchildren; her 19 great-grandchildren; and her brother Jim (Sandra) Benson of Lanigan, SK. She was predeceased by her husband Mike; daughter Meredith Lamping; son Norman Krysa; grandson Cody Lamping; parents Wesley and Ida Benson; brothers Howard and Bob Benson; and father-in-law and mother-in-law Harry and Julia Krysa.
