Public Interest Alberta (PIA) said today, March 6th, that they had received an updated statement from the RCMP, that there was an investigation into AHS procurement allegations of fraud.

The statement from an RCMP spokesperson, released on March 6th says;

“On February 6, 2025, the RCMP received a complaint relating to Alberta Health Services. Following a review, the RCMP has begun an investigation into the matter. As this is an ongoing investigation, no further details are available at this time.”

Here is the reaction from PIA:

"We are relieved the RCMP see the seriousness of this scandal and have opened a formal investigation," said Bradley Lafortune, Executive Director of Public Interest Alberta. "Now, it is incumbent on the RCMP to ensure they move swiftly and thoroughly, investigating all potential actors in this growing scandal, including the Office of Premier Danielle Smith, the Office of the Health Minister, Adriana LaGrange, and all others named in the allegations. We standby to support this investigation in the interest of democracy, accountability, and transparency. Albertans deserve nothing less."

An update to this story is expected once more information becomes available.
