The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) franchise in Warman has settled on a new name.

Next season, the Notre Dame Hounds will be rebranded as the Warman Wolverines.

Warman Co-Founder Jon Abrametz made the announcement on Monday during SJHL Weekly. He noted that he consulted with the Principal of Warman High School, Andrew Merryweather, about the name. Wolverines is also the name of the teams at Warman High School.

Abrametz added he gained the permission of the ownership group of the Whitecourt Wolverines to use the name Wolverines.

The logo and early concept design for the Wolverines can be found in the image above.

This week, the Notre Dame Hounds will play their final three games in the SJHL, with the final game in Wilcox on Sunday afternoon against the Melfort Mustangs.
