Redvers will soon play host to a safety show to help students learn the best practices to stay safe on farms. The Farm Safety Committee will be touching on a number of topics as they invite students from across the southeast to learn about keeping safe on farms.
Redvers Fire Department Chief Brad Hutton is one of the members of the Committee and talks about their plans for the show.
"What we're doing is going into their school, so we've got (Kindergarten to Grade 6) booked. We invited Maryfield and Bellegarde as well to attend it. Think it's about say 300-ish students coming to it, but it's going to be a safe AG day."
Hutton says that it'll include farm safety tips for students as well as household safety to help kids learn as much as possible.
There'll be plenty of learning opportunities for the show, including live demonstrations.
"It's gonna be set up like it's kind of like a trade show. So we'll have 9 booths for (Kindergarten to Grade 3) and 9 booths forĀ (Kindergarten to Grade 3), then there can be different people teaching different scenarios. It's everything from electrical to PTO safety, like chemical safety in your house and farms."
Some of the three live demonstrations they'll be doing will include a kitchen stove fire and the appropriate measures people need to take when extinguishing that.
Hutton says he's looking forward to what's shaping up to be a great day.
