Starting tomorrow, Estevan Comprehensive School will be the site of high-stakes basketball action as it hosts the 5A Girls Rural Regional Basketball Tournament.
Ten teams from across Saskatchewan will compete for just two spots at HOOPLA, the provincial championship set for March 22 and 23 in Saskatoon. Teams competing in Estevan include North Battleford Comprehensive, Warman, Yorkton Regional, Prince Albert Carlton, Prince Albert St. Mary, Lloydminster, Weyburn, Swift Current, Moose Jaw Peacock, and the host team, Estevan.
The Estevan Elecs, ranked fourth heading into the tournament, will begin their campaign against Yorkton at 2:45 p.m. on Friday. A strong performance throughout the weekend could earn them a place at HOOPLA, but the competition will be fierce.
With strong competition expected throughout the tournament, fans are encouraged to come out and cheer on the Elecs as they fight for a shot at the provincial stage.
