Calgary-based singer-songwriter Kate Reid is set to take the stage in Cochrane next month for the Music 4 Mental Health (M4MH) Songwriter Round.
Originally from Yukon, Reid has spent the past five years in Calgary honing her craft and connecting with the local music scene.
“I kind of have a mix of some old and new country sound, and I've been working on an album trying to get that '90s country vibe back,” says Reid.
Reid recently released her brand-new single, titled "Girl."
“This song actually started as a letter that I wrote to a certain someone but never sent. I put it into a song instead,” she says.
The M4MH Songwriter Round will be hosted at Found Books on April 12, 2025, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., and will feature Reid alongside artists Justine Vandergrift and Nik Poli.

Each artist will perform original songs and share the stories behind them. A percentage of proceeds from the event will support Big Hill Haven, a Cochrane organization aiding women and children facing domestic violence.
Reid is excited about her growing presence in Alberta's country music scene, with upcoming performances lined up for the Calgary Stampede and other events,
“It's been really almost overwhelming with how welcoming everybody is and how much live music there is here.”

Tickets for the M4MH event are $25 in advance, or a four pack for $75, and can be found here.
