Nineteen years into his career, a local electrician has decided to step out on his own. After doing electrical work for 19 years, Randy Wiebe launched Renovolt 360 in 2024.
“It’s been good,” says Wiebe, whose focus has largely been in the residential market for the past two decades. “Over the years, I’ve done renovations on my own houses, and most of it has been electrical. But I’ve done a bathroom reno, and right now, I’m doing a basement reno. My own house is still on the go!”
Wiebe says he came up with the name Renovolt 360 because, with all the work he has done on his own homes, he wanted to offer his clients more than solely electrical.
“Reno means renovations, volt indicates the electrical aspect, and 360 stands for all the way around because I wanted to do the whole picture.”
Wiebe notes that while he has mostly completed the electrical side of renovations, he also works on wiring for new builds.
“Nowadays, everybody wants newer lights, so [we are] upgrading wiring. I’ve crawled around in quite a few attics so that people could have newer lights! I’ve also wired a fourplex right from scratch and installed underground wiring for a new shop.”
On the Renovolt 360 Instagram account, he’s posted pictures of various projects completed by his company this past year, including a panel upgrade, generator panel install, farm service upgrade, and LED undercabinet lighting.
Even though he’s been doing work like this for nearly twenty years, Wiebe says his favourite part of each job is when he flips the breaker and everything lights up the way it’s supposed to.
“That’s the most enjoyable part – turning the power on and seeing everything light up and work,” says Wiebe. “Sometimes it doesn’t (work), but you figure it out.”
His honesty, integrity, and patience when it comes to making each project just right has earned Wiebe a busy first year of projects for Renovolt 360.
“Meeting new customers and seeing their appreciation when they see my work looks like what they were picturing, and it comes out the way they like it, or what they were thinking it would be – that’s the most enjoyable part.”
While Wiebe takes most of his jobs in the Altona, Winkler, and Morden areas, he’s willing to travel a bit for the right job.
Wiebe is also registered with Efficiency Manitoba, making energy-efficient upgrades for clients in terms of lighting, heat pumps, gas furnace upgrades, and more.
“Anything that takes less power,” notes Wiebe.
The thing that Wiebe most wants people to know about Renovolt 360 is that customer satisfaction is important.
“Being willing to listen to what the customer wants, and working to get each project to the place where it is what they want. That’s what I enjoy – just helping them get the most out of their project.”
Wiebe says he’s also willing to do service calls in the evening if you run into a situation that requires a professional electrician.
“Just look me up if you need something.”
