The little red barn that sat on the property across from the Janzen dealership in Winkler at Highway 428 and Highway 14 has vanished.
Did you notice?
A new purpose
Luckily, Dale Wiebe of Winkler Bible Camp can solve the mystery of where it went.
“It’s in our petting zoo,” he says. We got ready for it last fall while we were pouring a concrete pad.”
Wiebe says that the barn was moved by BB Wiebe & Sons movers, whom he says “did a beautiful job of moving that thing into place.”
A place that everyone can visit
According to Wiebe, Triple E donated the red barn.
“It's pretty cool. A lot of people wanted the barn, I think — I'm just kind of hearing that everybody wanted it, but this way, it's actually in a spot that everybody can still see it and be a part of it,” he says.

The plan for the camp’s new (to it) structure is to make it into the location of a year-round petting zoo.
“It will be our main barn petting zoo building, so we will be able to actually handle our snakes and all these critters,” says Wiebe. “We'll do a better job for school groups so they can come in the middle of winter.”
While the red barn no longer serves as a focal point in Winkler, it’s sure to be just as loved in its new home with its new purpose.
