The wait is almost over. On Saturday, Crossfield will find out if it has made the Top 4 in the Kraft Hockeyville competition—a milestone that could bring the town one step closer to winning $250,000 in arena upgrades and an NHL® preseason game at Pete Knight Arena.
Earlier this week, the Crossfield Minor Hockey Association (CMHA) took to social media to update the community on where things stand:
"We have had so many of you ask us ‘Where are we at with Hockeyville?!’" CMHA shared in a Facebook post. "Right now, we are waiting to see if we made it to the semifinals of the Top 4 in Canada! That announcement comes this Saturday, March 15! Only 4 more days to go! Keep thinking about your small town and sending out all that positive energy you put into your submissions!"
Excitement reached a new level on March 11, when Rogers Sportsnet visited Pete Knight Arena to capture footage of towns in the running for the semifinals. While this doesn’t guarantee a spot in the Top 4, it’s another sign that Crossfield’s bid is making waves.
Pete Knight Arena isn’t just a rink—it’s the heart of the community. From minor hockey to figure skating, public skating to tournaments, it’s a hub where friendships are made and lifelong memories take shape. But the arena is also in desperate need of upgrades.
Mayor Kim Harris has previously emphasized the need for improvements, citing dressing room shortages, accessibility issues, and malfunctioning scoreboards as just some of the ongoing challenges.
"Our arena is the soul of our community. Time and time again, I’ve seen residents rally together, whether it’s helping neighbours, supporting the food bank, or just gathering to celebrate. I’m confident we’ll come together for this competition."
If Crossfield makes it into the Top 4 on March 15, the real work begins. The town will need every possible vote when Canadians head to the polls on April 4-5 to decide which community will take home the Kraft Hockeyville title.
For now, the community waits—hopeful, united, and ready for whatever comes next.
