Another athlete from rural Manitoba has been commended for their performance at the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) level. Following her rookie season, Rachel Halldorson of Lundar was named a First-Team All-Star for the ACHA's Women's second division.

Halldorson says it was an unexpected honour.

"I didn't know they did all-stars, so I was pretty shocked when it first came out. But it's pretty awesome, I never thought I'd get that, but it's been pretty amazing. I couldn't have done it without my team, that's for sure."

Halldorson and her squad are preparing for their national tournament, which will be running from March 21-25. She says the tournament style is new for her.

"I've never done anything like this. I've always done playoffs and stuff, so this is a big change for sure. Especially, flying all the way to St. Louis, it's a lot different," she continues. "I'm pretty excited for sure, though. I know the team's pretty strong, we've worked really hard for this upcoming week, so I feel like we've got it. We've got what's in us, so all that's left is to play and leave it all out there."

Halldorson scored 10 wins over 14 games, was not charged with a single loss, and recorded a 1.06 Goals Against Average, a .963 Save Percentage, and 5 shutouts.
