While the start of the week is feeling wintery with a good amount of snow falling on the southeast, that's not going to last through the week. Environment Canada is calling for a warming period as daytime temperatures will be mostly leaving the negatives behind.

Meteorologist Danielle Desjardins talks about what we'll be seeing from the rest of the winter system coming through today.

"You're expecting about two to four centimetres for the southeast corner today. It's due to a low-pressure system in the United States, so it's just mainly some snowfall that's going to impact regions closer to the United States border."

The system is expected to be gone by the late spring, with that being replaced by warmth in short order.

That'll produce a bit of expected snow melt with most of what's accrued at the start of the week going away.

Desjardins says it's hard to tell whether this is just a false spring or the real one coming in.

"It's kind of hard to say on a day-to-day basis because even if we call for a warmer spring, you still are going to get periods below normal as well as well as above normal. But it's overall what we expect for the season."

Desjardins says that a real spring wouldn't become apparent until around the end of April, even as the meteorological spring began on March 1st.

Even as we're feeling warmer weather Desjardins talks about the risks present with that as the snow gathering up is expected to melt over the day than refreeze as we get back to negative temperatures overnight.

"It can make for some kind of unideal road conditions, so when especially we see some some of the ice freeze over the road, just be careful. It can be a little bit dicey with the spring ariving and the roads aren't completely clear, so just be aware of that and adjust your driving accordingly."
