“We’re family owned and operated, so we have that invested interest in keeping it going, keeping people happy.”

With nearly 60 years of industry experience guiding their way, Terry’s Cycle is continuing their tradition of providing their community with fantastic recreational opportunities coupled with superior customer care.

Terry and Marlene Pierce opened Terry’s Cycle back in 1968, and have been a Yamaha dealer since 1971. As the province’s oldest Yamaha dealer, they’re proud to have served four generations of loyal customers.

Today, they carry motorcycles, ATVs, side by sides, snowmobiles, and scooters… to name a few. They service what they sell, and also service a good amount of additional machines from other providers.

Worthy Pierce, grandson to Terry and Marlene, currently works in the sales department at Terry’s Cycle. He shares that, as a certified Yamaha dealer, their company has been approached over the last handful of years by other companies and brands, but they’ve turned them all away.

“We know what we’re getting into with [Yamaha],” Pierce says. “Yamaha has built their reputation on their performance, reliability, and quality. They’re the best company in the industry, which helps us keep our customers happy.”

Offering parts, sales, service, and financing, Terry’s Cycle’s clientele is both longtime brand-loyal customers and first-time buyers, including farmers, oilfield workers, retirees, and travelers. Springtime is their busiest season, with new shipments of Yamaha motorcycles, side by sides, ATVs and scooters rolling in over the next couple of months.

Terry’s Cycle is proud to be a Yamaha Elite Dealer, a program that recognizes businesses that are committed to going above and beyond for their clients. In order to qualify for Elite status, Yamaha dealers must submit to a rigorous evaluation, ensuring that they exceed the national average in cleanliness, customer satisfaction, and technician knowledge.

“Our customer service rating this past year was 98.8%,” Pierce shares. “One of the highest rating in the industry- there are only four of us in western Canada that have been Elite every year since they’ve come out with that program.”

How they achieve such a standard is a lot less complicated than you’d think.

“Really, we’re just doing our jobs. We try to treat everyone like family, and just do what’s best for the customer. Try and put yourself in the customer’s shoes, and treat them how you’d want to be treated.”

If you’re thinking about upgrading your current machine, or perhaps taking that first step into the world of recreational vehicles, Pierce encourages you to bring all your questions and concerns to his team at Terry’s.

“We always try to take care of the customer, plain and simple. One of the hardest things in this industry is keeping people, and I think it’s a little bit easier for us versus a lot of the other dealerships, because we’re mainly family here.”
