Championship finals are underway in Senior Hockey Leagues throughout the province.
The Long Lake Hockey League championship finals has now turned into a best of three after the Foam Lake Flyers and Drake Canucks split the first two games of the series. On Friday night, Foam Lake earned a 4-2 win over Drake. There will be a short break for the Long Lake finals as the Flyers compete in the ‘C’ Provincial finals. Game three will be on Friday, March 28 in Foam Lake.
On Sunday, Foam Lake began the Provincial final against Wilkie with a 7-6 on home ice to grab a 1-0 series lead. Game two is Saturday in Wilkie. If necessary, the deciding game three would go on Sunday afternoon at 3:30.
The Wheatland Hockey League began their championship series with the Tisdale Ramblers and the Kinistino Tigers splitting their first two games. It was the road teams who emerged with wins as Kinistino began the series with a win, while Tisdale came back with an overtime victory on Sunday. There is just one game this upcoming weekend in Tisdale, meaning the series will be decided at the end of March.
Over in the Twin Rivers Hockey League, the Allan Flames picked up an 8-4 win over the Willow Cree Chiefs on Saturday to lead the best of five series 1-0. Game two is Friday night at the Beardy’s Memorial Arena with game three on Saturday back in Allan.
