The Estevan Extreme 13UW volleyball team put on an impressive performance at SaskCup #2 in Saskatoon over the weekend, finishing fifth overall out of 36 teams from across the province.
The team lost only three sets across seven games, dominating in round-robin play with straight-set victories over the PA Toppers Walberg and the SE Viper Rattlers to claim first place in their pool.
Moving into playoffs, the Extreme continued their strong play, defeating QCVC White in straight sets in the Division 2 crossover match. They then faced CVVC Storm in a Division 1/Division 2 crossover game, winning again in straight sets to advance into the Division 1 playoffs.
The team’s only loss of the weekend came in the quarterfinals, where they fell to Momentum Black in a hard-fought three-set battle. However, they rebounded with a dominant semi-final win over Humboldt Chaos, taking the match 25-6, 25-23.
In their final game, the Extreme took on QCVC Purple for fifth place in Division 1. The match went the distance, with Estevan securing the win in three sets (20-25, 25-21, 16-14) to cap off an outstanding tournament.
The team now looks ahead to Provincials, set for April 12-13 in Regina.
