The town is preparing to provide more specifics on the major Glenbow infrastructure project on Apr. 16.
A robust public consultation is underway on the $15 million project to replace and improve upon aging infrastructure that will impact the neighborhood over the next two construction seasons.
Aging water, sewer, and storm systems along Glenpatrick Dr. require replacement to prevent failures and maintain reliable services.
As part of this project, Glenpatrick Drive will be upgraded to enhance safety and accessibility for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists. Improvements include a new sidewalk along Glenbow Drive, concrete bump-outs for pedestrian safety, and a crosswalk at Glenhill and Glenbow Drive. It includes a traffic circle on the Glenpatrick Dr./Glenhill Dr./Glenpatrick Rd. intersection close to the Glenbow School.
In an overview of the meeting, Drew Hyndman, Cochrane's executive director of development and infrastructure, told town council about 123 people attended the initial Feb. 12 open house.
The session was designed as a self-guided event, allowing attendees to explore information booths at their own pace. Large, printed maps were available for discussion, and a hard copy of project details was provided.
Questions surrounded traffic and road safety, parking and access to homes, construction timing and communications, student safety, and the traffic circle.

The town is in the process of hiring a project manager.
"On Apr. 16, when we get into phase 2, is when we'll be able to provide some additional details and answer those questions that we heard in phase 1. We believe we have a good structure in place to have a good outcome."
Councillor Alex Reed asked about the concern expressed over the timing of constructing the traffic circle with a preference for it to take place during the summer months when students are out of class.
"We have such a short construction window in our community. To meet the timelines and the budget for this, we will have to start in May, so it's not realistic to just have this start in the summer."
