The Weyburn Silver Seals Swim Team are hosting a registration night tonight, getting ready for the upcoming swim season. The registration night will allow competitive speed swimmers a chance to sign up and will have board members available for those interested in asking questions. Twyna Molner, vice president of the SIlver Seals, hopes to see lots of interested swimmers there
“We are opening up our registration for the 2025 swim season to all families. We did some pre-registration with our returning families in the past few days and now we’ve opened up all of our remaining spots to the public. For any available spots that are left, we are looking at having to cap our group (size) this year. Just given the volume of people that are interested, we want to make sure that everyone gets quality instructions while they're here.”
For those unable to attend the registration night tonight, there will be an online registration form available to fill out posted tomorrow, however spots are limited and will fill up fast with increased interest. Molnar explains the continued growth of the Silver Seals, despite some challenges associated with COVID-19 and the pool closure at the Weyburn Leisure Centre.
“Everyone is super positive and excited for the swim season to open given the trials we've had with the pool, everyone’s excited to be getting back in the water. We have seen a lot of growth in the last couple of years. We’re back up to pre-COVID numbers and we're just excited to see a lot of young families joining and it's a really fun atmosphere and we're very fortunate to have the reception that we do have within the community.”
The registration night will be held at the Weyburn Leisure Centre’s Sun Room from 6:00-8:00 P.M and follow the Weyburn Silvers Seals Swim Team on their Facebook page.
