A prestigious award has been put forward for an Estevan hockey player following a strong season.

Defenceman Cameron Allard, a member of the U18 AAA Great North Bears, was awarded the Adam Herold Memorial Award which goes to the top blue-liner in the Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League.

Allard is the first Bear to win the award and did so with a season that saw six goals and 30 assists in 44 games.

The Bears themselves had a middling season over 2024-25, securing a 22-19-3 record over 44 games played.

In the playoffs the Bears managed to battle out to game five of the first round against the Moose Jaw Winmar Warriors, losing the final match 5-2.

It's the first time a member of the Bears has garnered the recognition, although another defenceman, Thomas Ries, was selected as a league first-team all-star last season.

Bears fans, join us in congratulating Cameron Allard who was awarded the Adam Herold Memorial Award as the Top Defenceman in the SMAAAHL. He is pictured here accepting the award during our last home game 🎉
