In a heartwarming surprise at BGC Cochrane and Area, Executive Director Jill Bilodeau was presented with the King Charles III Coronation Medal in recognition of her unwavering commitment to children, youth, and families in the community.
During a routine staff meeting, Jill was surprised when her family, friends, and colleagues suddenly entered the room.
The event was carefully orchestrated by the entire BGC Cochrane and Area team to celebrate her achievement in a meaningful way.
Banff-Airdrie MP Blake Richards had the honour of presenting the medal.
"When you think about someone who embodies what this medal was designed to recognize, Jill is one of the first people who comes to mind." says Richards.
"The difference she has made in the lives of so many young people is exactly what this honour represents."
Bilodeau, who has been with BGC Cochrane and Area for 15 years, expressed her gratitude to those who have supported her journey.
"Honestly, this is because of all of you. You make me better, and I want to thank each and every one of you for being so amazing and for the work you do with the children, youth, and families."
"I share this with you because we’re doing this together."
She reflected on the organization’s growth under her leadership, emphasizing the importance of expanding programs to meet the community’s needs.
"It’s an honour for me to lead this amazing organization and to see how much we’ve grown over the last 15 years," she says. "We’ve worked together to fill gaps in our community and to make it a great place for young people."
