It's the first weekend of Spring, and there are activities for all in Okotoks.
Here is what's happening in town this weekend.
Friday, March 21:
École Okotoks Junior High School is hosting a fundraising concert, which will have local musicians Brettyn Rose and Chase Morgan performing to help raise money so their students can head to Tennessee and perform at the Grand Ole Opry.
It's International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, and the Viking Rentals Centre will be hosting an event from 7 to 8:30 p.m., which will help to strive for a racism-free Okotoks.
The Dewdney Players Group Theatre will be performing One Act Plays at the Old Church Theatre, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The Okotoks Oilers will be taking on the boys from West Kelowna at the Viking Rentals Centre, with the puck dropping at 7:05 p.m.
As part of the Town of Okotoks' Nature Fridays, they will be teaching about the magic of trees and forests from 10 am to 4 p.m.
Saturday, March 22:
The Foothills Advocacy In Motion (FAIM) Society will be hosting a Banger Bingo, where there will be an interactive comedy gameshow and bingo game, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Viking Rentals Centre.
At the Okotoks Museum, they will be hosting a Lights Out, History On: Earth Hour Walk, beginning at 8:30 p.m.
The Dewdney Players will be performing at the Old Church Theatre, with curtain call being 7:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, over at the Viking Rentals Centre, the Okotoks Oilers will be taking on the team from Penticton, with puck drop at 7:05 p.m.
It's a busy day at the Okotoks Public Library, as they are hosting a Coding Club from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., a Teen Art Club from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m., and a Lego Contest from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
The Okotoks Elk Club is hosting their regular meat draw and perogy lunch, with lunch being dished up at noon.
The Sheep River parkrun happens every Saturday in the Sheep River Park, starting at 9 a.m., and people can walk, run, jog, or volunteer.
Sunday, March 23:
As always, there are Drop-In recreation activities all day throughout town, so head over to the Active Okotoks to check out the fun.
And ice cream lovers rejoice, because Big Dipper Ice Cream has opened for the season.
