In Sudan, more than 24 million people are facing severe food insecurity, with over 12 million displaced since April 2023 due to ongoing violence and conflict. These numbers represent not just statistics, but lives torn apart by a crisis that has been largely ignored by the international community.

Canadian Foodgrains Bank Executive Director Andy Harrington, and Senior Humanitarian Manager Stefan Epp-Koop traveled to South Sudan in early March to visit their humanitarian partners and their projects.

'The situation in Sudan and South Sudan are dire, due to civil war and famine'
On March 14, the CFB hosted a webinar live from South Sudan, where executive director Andy Harrington provided an update on the hunger crisis affecting Sudan and neighboring countries. He also spoke with some of their members local partners who are working amidst this crisis and announced a new $4 million grant from the Government of Canada.
