It was a hard-fought battle between the Moose Jaw Winmar AAA Warriors and the Regina Pat Canadians Sunday afternoon, as a sold-out crowd packed the Co-operators Centre in Regina. Despite a valiant effort, the Warriors fell 2-1.

Captain Brennan Brown opened the scoring for the Warriors in the first period. Jonah Silvertson answered back for the Pat Canadians, tying the game on the power play in the second. Maddox Schultz then netted the game-winner in the third, also on the man advantage.

With time ticking down in the third period, the Warriors pressed hard for the equalizer. They pulled their goalie and gained a six-on-four advantage when Eli Johnson was sent off for boarding, but the Pat Canadians goaltender Taylor Tabashniuk stood tall, turning aside every shot to seal the win.

The series now shifts to the Southland Co-op Centre in Assiniboia for Game 2 on Tuesday night, with puck drop set for 7 p.m. Warriors fans looking to make the trip can hop on the fan bus, which is being organized for the team.

Seats are $30 per person. To book, call 306 513 7091 or email manageraaawarriors@gmail.com.
