The Town of Crossfield is exploring the development of a bike skills and pump track and is asking residents to weigh in on the project’s future location and design.

A community survey launched on the Town’s website invites public input on three potential sites, as well as preferred features, safety concerns, and design priorities. An open house is also scheduled for Wednesday (March 26) 3 to 8 p.m. at the Crossfield Community Center, in conjunction with the Municipal Development Plan review.

The proposed pump track aims to provide a space for riders of all ages and skill levels to practice balance, improve technique and build confidence. Survey respondents are asked to rank their preferred site among three options:

  • Option 1: A 0.7-acre site adjacent to the existing ball diamond. Pros include visibility, existing parking, and elevation changes. Drawbacks include limited expansion space and potential conflicts with ball diamond users.

  • Option 2: A larger 1.5-acre area south of the ball diamond. This site offers more space for future growth but would require relocating the current parking lot, potentially impacting access to nearby sports fields.

  • Option 3: A section of Murdoch Park's northwest corner, approximately 0.85 acres within the 5-acre park. This location offers room for expansion and proximity to the pathway system, but may conflict with existing soccer field layouts.

Residents can also share their views on features such as beginner and advanced track elements, jumps, balance beams, surface type (dirt or asphalt), and amenities like benches. The survey also invites input on issues including noise, maintenance, environmental impact, and accessibility.

The survey is available online.
