The Cochrane Ringette Association is inviting young athletes to lace up their skates and give ringette a try at its upcoming free Come Try Ringette event.
“This event is a great way for kids to experience ringette in a fun, supportive environment,” says Krista Town, a volunteer with the Cochrane Ringette Association. “They’ll get to meet volunteer coaches, older players, and learn the basics of skating, passing, and gameplay.”
The event is open to athletes ages four to 16, with no prior skating or ringette experience required. Participants will receive hands-on instruction from experienced players and coaches, learning the fundamentals of the game through drills and scrimmages.
“If you don’t know how to skate, we’ll help you,” Town says. “It’s a great opportunity to build confidence on the ice and see what ringette is all about.”
To participate, players must bring a helmet, skates, and gloves. Additional protective gear such as neck guards, elbow pads, and shin guards is recommended. Ringette sticks will be available to borrow at the event.
