UPDATE:
RCMP have charged a 33-year-old man from Long Plain First Nation in connection with a serious assault that occurred Friday night outside a home in Somerset.
Pembina Valley RCMP officers responded to the incident and found a 40-year-old man, from Portage la Prairie, with life-threatening injuries. He was transported to the hospital via STARS Air Ambulance, and as of yesterday, he remained there.
Austin Kequahtooway has been charged with Aggravated Assault and was remanded into custody for a Winnipeg court appearance scheduled for yesterday.
According to RCMP, this case remains under investigation.

Pembina Valley RCMP continue to investigate after responding to a report of a serious assault Friday night. According to information released by the RCMP, the incident occurred outside a Somerset residence at approximately 10:45pm.
Pembina Valley RCMP officers responded, and found a 40-year-old man, from Portage la Prairie, with life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital via STARS Air Ambulance where he remains in critical condition.
A 33-year-old man was arrested on scene and was still in police custody as of Sunday afternoon.
