So, Elections Canada tells me there are 16 officially registered political parties in Canada who are eligible to have candidates in the federal election campaign which officially got underway yesterday.

Only five of the 16 had representation in the House of Commons when the election was called. They are the Liberal and Conservative parties, the NDP, Bloc Quebecois, and the Green Party of Canada.

The latest polling, however, shows it's a two-horse race in 2025.

The most recent poll from Leger found 40% of Canadians will vote for the Liberal Party with the Conservatives getting 37% support from decided voters.

Who is the best candidate for Prime Minister? Well. 34% of Canadians say Mark Carney while 30% say Pierre Poilievre.

It's fun to watch the numbers and we'll update the latest polling data for you in the coming weeks but, of course, you know the only numbers that count will be produced Monday night, April 28th, when we get the results from the 2025 federal election.
