The Estevan Police Service (EPS) dealt with numerous incidents over the past few days, including multiple arrests of a 22-year-old Estevan male.
The individual was arrested several times within the last week, including for being intoxicated in a public place. During his most recent arrest, he was found with a half-consumed bottle of vodka, which had been stolen from a local liquor store. While being transported to EPS, he kicked a patrol vehicle door, causing damage. He was lodged in cells to appear in court to face multiple charges, including five counts of theft under $5,000, willful damage, eight breaches of release conditions, and consuming alcohol in public.
In other incidents, police responded to two thefts from local businesses. In one case, the suspect fled when confronted by staff, and the matter remains under investigation.
EPS also received multiple driving complaints, including reports of unsafe passing on King Street and a suspected impaired driver entering city limits. In the latter case, officers conducted a traffic stop, and the driver was found to be sober but was cautioned for their driving behavior. Another complaint on the city’s east side could not be confirmed, as the provided license plate did not match the vehicle description.
A 6’ x 10’ utility trailer was reported stolen from the industrial area, and mischief to postal boxes in the Hillside area was also reported, with both matters still under investigation.
Officers attended several disturbances, including a fight between a male and female in the Westview area, a disagreement between a parent and child which was addressed with Social Services, and a noise complaint near the mall. Police and the Police and Crisis Team (PACT) also mediated a disturbance where all involved parties found a ride home.
In addition, a man was ticketed for panhandling outside a local convenience store. A separate disturbance call led to the arrest of a 26-year-old Estevan male.
