The Portage la Prairie School Division (PLPSD) has announced changes to its regular board meeting schedule. During a recent meeting, Superintendent Pamela Garnham shared that the school division will now hold their public conferences once a month, instead of the previous bi-monthly schedule.
The regular meetings will take place on the fourth Tuesday of each month. However, if this date coincides with a holiday or school break, such as during spring break, it will be rescheduled to the second Tuesday of the month. This adjustment ensures that important divisional business continues without disruption.
Garnham clarifies despite the number of public meetings being reduced, the PLPSD Board of Trustees will continue to put forth the same amount of time and effort for the school division.
"This doesn't mean your board members are not still working on that second Tuesday. Every second Tuesday, your board members will now meet in what we call a committee of the whole. This will allow the board to work on committees, policy, and important divisional work on the second Tuesday of each month. So, your Board of Trustees is still working very hard on those second Tuesdays,” Garnham explains.
Their meeting this evening will be the last one on the bi-monthly schedule with the next one taking place on April 22.
