Albertans will have more options when it comes to booking camping spots this summer.

Alberta Parks is adding 330 new campsites and two group camping areas in 15 provincial parks for the upcoming season. Reservations for these new spots open on April 8 at 9 a.m. through the provincial website.

Campers can book individual campsites up to 90 days in advance, with stays of up to 10 consecutive nights, while group sites can be reserved up to 180 days ahead, for a maximum of five consecutive nights.

Additionally, at least 40 per cent of campsites in these areas will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

New reservable individual campsites will be added to these locations:

  • Crescent Falls Provincial Recreation Area (Crescent Falls campground)

  • Crow Lake Provincial Park (Crow Lake campground)

  • Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park (Devonshire South campground)

  • Goldeye Lake Provincial Recreation Area (Goldeye Lake campground)

  • Oldman River Provincial Recreation Area (Oldman River campground)

  • Payne Lake Provincial Recreation Area (Payne Lake campground)

  • Queen Elizabeth Provincial Park (Queen Elizabeth campground)

  • Dinosaur Provincial Park (Steveville Bridge campground)

  • St. Mary Reservoir Provincial Recreation Area (St. Mary Upper and Wally's campgrounds)

  • Thompson Creek Provincial Recreation Area (Thompson Creek campground)

  • Kootenay Plains Provincial Recreation Area (Two O’clock Creek campground)

  • Waterton Reservoir Provincial Recreation Area (Waterton Reservoir campground)

  • Bow Valley Provincial Park (Willow Rock campground)

  • Williamson Provincial Park (Williamson campground)

New group-use areas will open at:

  • Fawcett Lake Provincial Recreation Area (Fawcett Lake Group Use Area)

  • Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park (North Shore Group Use Area)
