Even with the weather warming up and feeling very Spring-like in recent days, we're still a little ways from the opening of the RCU Aquatic Centre in Winkler, but the big day will be here before you know it.
"We're going to be opening the Aquatic Centre, May 23rd, 2025," said Winkler Mayor Henry Siemens. "We have swimming registration dates, and again important to make note of in your calendar, residents of Winkler and Stanley have an opportunity to book starting May 14th for swimming registration. Non-residents have opportunity after that on May 15th, just one day later."
Meanwhile, the Mayor took a moment to recognize the recently announced sponsorship partnership between Rosenort Credit Union (RCU) and the City of Winkler.
"Part of our sponsorship deal that we announced is Rosenort Credit Union has agreed to sponsor that facility," he explained. "They've made a significant contribution financially to have their name up there, and we're certainly very thankful they're helping us to do those types of things that allow us to enhance that facility without asking our ratepayers for more money."
Meanwhile, with warmer weather here, many camping enthusiasts are starting to think about those warm Summer nights under the stars with their family sitting around a campfire.
"It is important for us to mention campground reservations will open April 9th, and that leading to the campground opening May 14th," said Siemens. "If you have some plans this Summer, and you'd like to get into that campground, make note of your calendar and April 9th you can reach out and book a reservation and hopefully by then the snow has melted."
