Carlyle’s All Rec Tournament this Saturday will offer fun and friendly competition, all while raising money for STARS air ambulance.
Danielle Steel, the town’s director of parks, recreation and culture, said the tournament is a fun year-end event for players of all skill levels.
“It’s just meant to be a fun day to come out and play shinny with some friends,” Steel said.
With 60 people registered, the event is shaping up to be an exciting day.
“We’ve left registration open until Wednesday,” Steel said. “I know there’s always some last-minute people who would like to join, so if we get a few more, they can be added to the teams.”
The event is being held as part of STARS’ March for STARS fundraiser.
“STARS reached out to see if someone in the community would do something to raise money, and the council agreed that we would run the rec tournament,” Steel said.
The event has a $20 registration fee, with the town matching donations. All proceeds will go to STARS.
Community members are encouraged to come out and enjoy the day by either playing in the tournament, making a donation or participating in the 50/50 draw.
Due to the extended registration period, the schedule has not yet been finalized, but the event is expected to run from noon to around 7 p.m.
