During Monday’s City Council meeting, Mayor Rob Muench made a pair of important proclamations in the City of Humboldt.

Sunday, April 6th, 2025, has been proclaimed “2017-18 Humboldt Broncos Day” to honour the lives lost and the ongoing effects felt by those affected from the 2017-18 Humboldt Broncos tragedy.

Citizens are encouraged to take a moment on April 6th at 4:50 pm, the approximate time of the tragedy, to reflect and honour the memory of those lost.

Mayor Muench also proclaimed Monday, April 7th, 2025, as “Green Shirt Day” to commemorate the legacy of Logan Boulet. Logan’s decision to donate his organs sparked a national movement known as the “Logan Boulet Effect,” that inspired over 100,000 Canadians to register as organ donors in matter of days following his passing.

On April 7th, residents are encouraged to wear green to honour Boulet. Green Shirt Day also serves as a reminder of the importance of organ donation. Mayor Muench also encourages citizens to have important conversations with their families about the selfless decision of organ donations.
