The Calgary Stampede will be kicking off in 100 days, and this year people will be singing about 'the best thing about bein' a woman.'

It has been announced that the parade to open 'The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth' will be marshalled by Canadian country superstar Shania Twain.

Shania Twain is a five-time Grammy winner, and her six albums have sold over 100 million copies worldwide, making her one of the top-selling female country pop artists of all time.

On top of being the parade marshal, Twain will be performing as part of the Stampede Concert Series on July 5.

"The city of Calgary and the province of Alberta have always held a very special place in my heart," said Twain in a media release. "The Calgary Stampede is an amazing celebration of Western heritage and culture and embodies the true spirit of Calgarians and Canadians. I look forward to being part of it again, not only playing at the Saddledome on the first Saturday of Stampede but also on horseback riding through the streets of downtown Calgary."

Stuart O'Connor is the President and Chair of the Board of the Calgary Stampede, and he says there is no better way to mark the beginning of this year's stampede.

"As a Canadian icon who has captivated audiences worldwide, Shania embodies the grit, passion and celebration that defines the Stampede. We can’t wait to see her lead the Parade and share this unforgettable moment with our community, as well as visitors and viewers from around the world," O'Conner stated in the media release.

The Calgary Stampede Parade is a march through tradition, history, and culture found in Calgary, and each year, it is led by an individual who exemplifies the values of the Stampede.

Previous marshals include members of the entertainment industry, Olympians, astronauts, mountain climbers, and cancer survivors.

The Parade will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, July 4, with the prelude beginning at 7:30 a.m.
