Crescentview School’s Parent Council is excited to announce the winner of their 50/50 draw that happened this morning. Allison Giffin took home $3745.00. The 50/50 is aimed at helping raise funds for a new multi-sport court. The court will include a basketball area and two pickleball courts, designed to offer more recreational opportunities for students, particularly the older grades.
Sarah Proctor, chair of the Parent Council, explained the motivation behind the initiative.
"Since we switched to a K-8 school in 2023, we found that the older kids were lacking activities to do at recess. The idea for the multi-sport court came from that need."
The school has been fundraising for over a year, including applying for various grants, to make the project a reality. The 50/50 draw is the latest effort to gather the fund. The cost for the project is estimated to be $80,000.00.
The current basketball court at Crescentview is small and located in an area with limited supervision, a concern for many. Sarah highlighted the importance of providing engaging activities for grades 6-8 students, saying,
"They need things to do rather than just standing around."
The Parent Council encourages the Portage community to support this exciting project. To help bring this much-needed multi-sport court to life.
