Cochrane gardeners, both seasoned and beginners, are invited to the 2025 Cochrane & Area Gardening Expo.
Happening on Sunday, April 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cochrane Lions Event Centre, this annual event combines a gardening market and expert speakers with a focus on food sustainability.
Organizer Mark Denton explains that this year’s theme emphasizes small-space gardening, gardening on a budget, and preserving the harvest.
"We’ll have three speakers covering these topics, helping attendees save money and maximize their homegrown produce," says Denton.
The event will feature over 30 vendors, with an entire floor dedicated to the market and a separate speaking area upstairs.
“Last year, we had over 750 attendees, and this year, we’re aiming for over 1,000,” Denton adds, highlighting that the event is a great opportunity for local gardeners to connect and share tips.

The event is free to attend, and vendors can rent a table for just $15.
Denton encourages both experienced and new vendors to participate, saying, "It's a chance to meet the community and even make a little money selling plants."
