A big summer for baseball in Estevan is seeing the first steps towards multiple tournaments and other events in the southeast. Estevan Minor Baseball is working towards those events, with teams from across the province getting involved.

President of Estevan Minor Baseball, Mel Murray, says that they're still in the early stages.

"Right now, the AA teams and the AAA teams are getting formed. Once everything gets going, we'll pick our host teams and get them established for the first of May."

The first month of baseball will be busy in Estevan, as Murray says they've got multiple tournaments being planned.

"During the May long weekend, we have the Select Tournament in Estevan. That'll consist of the top 14 teams in the province that are 18U AAA teams. They'll all come to Estevan for a big tournament. Then in July, we have the 11U AAA provincials, the 11U AA Tier 3 Provincials, and the weekend after that, we have the 18U AAA provincials. So we have quite a bit planned this year."

Murray says he's looking forward to the tournaments, saying it'll be a big year for the organization.

As well, they'll be working on building four new batting cages to better service teams playing on Estevan's diamonds.
