A 37-year-old man from Long Plain First Nation is facing multiple charges after being arrested this past weekend.
The arrest on March 23rd was made in connection with a disturbing case of assault and forcible confinement. Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) responded to a report of an assault that had taken place over several days at a residence on Yellowquill Trail W in Long Plain First Nation. The investigation revealed that an adult woman and a young girl were held against their will and assaulted.
Following the investigation, police arrested the suspect and executed a search warrant at the residence, where they seized approximately 9 grams of suspected methamphetamine, cash, and several imitation firearms.
The suspect remains in custody on the following charges:
- Pointing a firearm
- Assault with a weapon
- Assault
- Discharge air gun or air pistol with intent to wound
- Forcible Confinement
- Uttering threats against a person
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose x2
- Weapons possession contrary to order x2
- Possession of property obtained by crime less than or equal to $5000
- Possession for the purpose of Trafficking – namely, Methamphetamine
Due to the nature of this incident being intimate partner violence, the accused will not be named to protect the identities of the victims.
