Carnie's Comments

I just knew it would happen when I saw the flags going up on Moose Jaw's Main Street last week.

People, local people, are upset about the fact we have an American flag, the Star Spangled Banner, blowing in the breeze in our city. These are people who, like most of us, are upset about the fact President Trump is imposing tariffs on Canadian goods.

Many of them soon found out that we're flying the flag to welcome Team USA to the BKT World Men's Curling Championship in Moose Jaw.

We're also flying the flag of Communist China as we welcome the Chinese athletes to our city, our province and our country.

I don't see a problem. Do you?

I have a number of American and Chinese friends and acquaintances. They're good people.

My hope is that those who attend the championship this weekend and next week can put politics aside and let the sport of curling bring us together and welcome our friends from the United States and China and give proof, through the week, that their flags are still there.
