With an Alberta clipper on its way, may as well take a snow day this weekend and begin Spring cleaning. The timing couldn't be better, as two community organizations are holding sales next week, and they're both accepting donations now.

Some are organizing their homes as a way to prepare for all the time they'll be spending outdoors once the weather truly melts the snow and turns everything green. Gardening season is just around the corner, so now is the perfect time to go through those overflowing bookshelves to purge what may no longer be needed. As of today, books, magazines, DVDs, CDs, puzzles, and even dictionaries can be donated to the Weyburn Public Library's Spring Book Sale.

It's an opportunity to make room for more books, which for readers is like a treasure hunt at a fraction of the retail cost.
We spoke with Branch Manager Dawn Silver last week about why dictionaries are included this year, and about how they need volunteers to help out with the event as well.

The WPL's book sale is being held April 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Books are priced individually on the first two days, and then on the final sale day Saturday, patrons can fill a box for just $10.

Also on April 3rd, 4th, and 5th, a huge indoor garage sale is being held at the Weyburn Legion.

The rest of the home may need purging, and hosting a garage sale is not everyone's favourite kind of work. The Legion can make it easy to get it out without having to sort, price, or wait for interest on a Marketplace post.

It's a chance to remove a wide variety of unwanted household items, from knickknacks to air fryers, and everything in between. The Legion is making it really easy to donate items, either by drop-off or even via pick-up by calling to make arrangements.

Don't forget to mark your calendar to go back and support these two organizations that make our community stronger. Making more space by purging means having more space for things better suited to your household needs.
