It might not be your typical name for a plumbing business, but “Aloha” captures exactly what co-owner and founder Julian DeJesus hopes his customers will feel about his service.
“If I say the word ‘Aloha,’ you will feel something positive,” he says. “We want everyone to have those positive vibes.”
It’s a word they live by at Aloha Plumbing & Drain Services Inc., which serves Winnipeg, Selkirk and Brandon. Naturally, they want to be known as problem-solvers; but, even more importantly, they want their customers to feel good about their work.
“What I want is to be the guy who shows up and takes the stress off your shoulders,” says DeJesus. “You’ve got a lot going on. Let me just take that from you so you can feel calm.”
Dig beneath those positive vibes and what you’ll find is the confidence of a business that understands its products better than most. After all, DeJesus opened his first company, Big Boys Repairs, with his father in 2012. They worked on the machines and technologies Aloha would later use – and perfect – and ended up becoming experts in their components and use.
Now, after a period of growth that progressed from repairs to restorations, Aloha Plumbing & Drain Services offers residential and commercial plumbing, drain cleaning, HVAC and boiler service, and trenchless pipe relining.
It’s the latter offering that Aloha has turned into a specialty.
Essentially, pipe relining is a non-invasive plumbing process that cures a resin-saturated liner with an old pipe, creating a new one. DeJesus and his team, for example, can inspect the compromised pipe with a camera, remove any debris, insert the liner and initiate the curing process – a chemical reaction using 0 voc epoxy that doesn’t emit any harmful fumes.
What’s left is a fully-restructured pipe within the existing pipe, backed by a fully-transferable 25-year warranty and 50-year guarantee. What isn’t left is a torn-up bathroom, basement floor or front yard.
“We fix the pipe from existing clean-out points – in the basement, your stack, even your roof,” DeJesus explains. “Ninety-nine percent of the time we don’t have to dig.”
Aloha also offers free camera inspections for any homeowner, provided it’s not an investment property. The procedure costs nothing, and it can help prevent expensive repairs or replacements down the road.
“We do it so you can be proactive,” DeJesus says. “It’s imperative to get it done sooner rather than later if your house is more than 50-years-old.”
And, he adds, if he and his technicians discover a problem, they’ll still provide the results and diagnoses for the property owner – even if they want to hire another company to perform the repair work.
“We’re here to solve problems,” he says. “We built this business on solving problems.”
