The Weyburn Public Library needs your donations of books and other media items for their Spring Book Sale coming up April 3rd, 4th, and 5th. The funds raised help support the free programming offered at the branch.

"We're pretty much a week out and we're at about half of where we usually are," said Branch Manager Dawn Silver. "I've got maybe 20 boxes left for our 'Volunteens' to unpack, but we are not anywhere near the capacity that we need to be."

She said she's wondering if the change to more spring-like weather contributed to people spending less time organizing indoors.

"I encourage everybody to please look at what you got for books, games, puzzles and bring them down. We take CDs, we take DVDs," Silver invited. "We take dictionaries this year because the prison libraries that we also support in small ways are looking for dictionaries for people who need them there because they don't have access to the Internet. So yeah, think of us."

Magazines are quite popular at these sales, she noted.

"People to bring their items in so that we can pass them along to other people who want them. These this is another source of our fundraising for our programming. The City of Weyburn supports us, but we also want to be able to contribute our own funds from our book sales, and the programs need to stay free, especially in the economic uncertainty of what's going on right now."

The kids crafts programs need all the money we can throw at them," she shared.

Silver added their cooking programs also cost more these days due to rising food costs.
