Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for areas of Central Alberta Friday morning, including Wetaskiwin County, Ponoka County, and Clearwater County.
Between 15 to 30 cm of snow was expected.
The snow is expected to continue today with another couple of centimetres. The high for Friday is minus four.
"By noon, I would think that the heaviest snow for sure should be done," said Heather Rombough, Environment Canada meteorologist. "I expect the snowfall warnings will be ended by midday at the latest."
Another couple of centimetres was expected for Saturday with a high of minus five.
Visibility on the highways could be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.
Highways in the region were snow-covered this morning with icy and slippery sections.
