Estevan held its annual citywide registration on Wednesday, inviting people from across the city to stop by Affinity Place for signups to a number of events. That included youth sports and more, with the in-person meeting a chance to see what was happening in the community.
Marketing Communications Manager for the City of Estevan, Jacquelyn Massey-Rounds, says the night went well.
"We had a really good turnout of people from the community joining us for registration purposes, but also to see what was out there in our community and what groups Estevan has to currently offer."
Massey-Rounds says the city saw around 20 groups come out to attend, and along with the regular crowds, there were also members of the Estevan City Council who chatted with the attendees.
For a few citywide registrations, the city has dropped the fee that would have been paid by the organizations coming to the event.
That's been a boon for getting more of them to come, says Massey-Rounds.
"We're definitely seeing higher numbers of organizations able to attend citywide now that participation is free. I think it's been a really positive outcome that has allowed a lot more not-for-profit groups that operate with really restricted budgets to be able to participate."
Now, the city is getting ready for its next citywide registration event in the fall, with Massey-Rounds expecting to get more information out to organizations sometime in June.
