The Rowan House women's shelter has been operating in the Foothills for 25 years now.

They held a special brunch fundraiser to recognize the milestone and celebrate those in our community who help and give back.

The theme was 'Honouring Our Roots, Building Our Future.'

Held at the Highwood Golf Club on Thursday, March 27, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., it was well received.

The mayors of High River and Okotoks were in attendance, sharing their support, as well as Foothills MP John Barlow, and Livingstone-Macleod MLA Chelsae Petrovic also submitted a video of support.

The non-profit organization was started out of a basement in Black Diamond (now Diamond Valley) 25 years ago and has blossomed into a strong organization supporting those who need it across the Foothills.

They have multiple programs and supports in place for those suffering from domestic abuse in all its forms.

To reach out to donate or if you need help, you can always call or text their 24-hour hotline at 403-652-3311.

A reminder that all donations made in March, up to $25,000, will be matched thanks to sponsors from a radiothon hosted on 99.7 Sun Country on March 6.
