With U.S. tariffs on many Canadian goods, many Canadians are trying to shop for Canadian goods at grocery stores.

Many local retailers have started putting a red maple leaf on shelves to indicate which products are Canadian in some way.

According to Sobeys' website, the 'Made in Canada' designation means that at least 51% of production costs are from Canada, with any imported products listed on the back label. The 'Product of Canada' label refers to products for which at least 98% of production, including ingredients, processing and labour, comes from Canada.

Sobeys is also a Canadian-owned and operated company which started as an independent store in 1907.

Save-On-Foods is also Canadian-owned and operated since 1915.

They also use a red maple leaf to designate Canadian products.

Some stores also use the letter 'T' to show which products have been affected by the U.S. tariffs.

Many local grocers also support local farmers and producers, and they're labelled accordingly.

Calgary Co-op has been around since 1960, with one store in Calgary. They also have a location in High River.

No Frills is Canadian too, owned by Loblaws, and was founded in 1978. Loblaws has been Canadian since 1919.

Costco is American, formed in 1976 under another name and is now the third-largest retailer in the world.

Walmart is also from the U.S. and has been so since 1978.
