The Water Security Agency is warning residents about thin ice conditions in the province.

Spring runoff will start to materialize with warmer temperatures, and the WSA is cautioning everyone to be safe around Saskatchewan rivers, lakes and other bodies of water.

Ice does not melt at a uniform pace and its strength can vary from one area to the next.

When approaching, be aware any activity on ice carries risk. Avoid slushy ice along with ice that has thawed and then refrozen or is near moving water.

The WSA will continue to monitor conditions and report on them as they develop.
