Cochrane area hockey talent hits the ice tonight (Mar. 28) as the WHL playoffs get underway.

Kadon McCann and Ethan Neutens suit up for the top-seeded Medicine Hat Tigers as they take on the Swift Current Broncos in the Eastern Conference. Neutens was traded to the Tigers earlier this season by the Kelowna Rockets, and McCann has played his entire WHL career in Medicine Hat.

Rookie Riley Boychuk makes his WHL playoff debut with the Prince Albert Raiders, second in the East, against the Edmonton Oil Kings.

Rhett Sather (Spokane Chiefs), Fraser Leonard (Prince George Cougars), and Jaxen Adam (Tri-City Americans) are on the playoff rosters of Western Conference teams.


RELATED STORIES

The WHL continues to use a conference playoff format with each series a best-of-seven. The two conference winners will advance to the WHL championship series, scheduled to begin May 9.

The league champion will advance to the 2025 Memorial Cup in Rimouski, QC, from May 22 to June 1.
