Spring break has begun, and the traditional nasty spring weather of snow and freezing rain has stayed true for 2025!  It's tradition, the week of the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair and Spring Break means a combination of ridiculous weather where Old Man Winter just doesn't want to let go!

However, staff and students in our Manitoba schools are enjoying their well-deserved break from books and classrooms for about 10 days.

"I can't believe how fast this school year has gone and the older I get the faster it seems to go," shares Superintendent for Turtle Mountain School Division, Grant Wiesner.

"But now that spring break is here, we're looking at making sure that the year wraps up well over the next three months, and that we have our staffing ready for next year so that we're ready to go the start of September again."

Wiesner says it's always great to see what's all happening in each of their schools, whether that be Killarney, Boissevain, Minto or any of the area colony schools.

"Whether it's I Love to Read Week, whether it's sporting events, whether it's music and drama, there's just so much exciting things going on at our at our schools," he says. "And it's a well-deserved break for everybody during spring break."

"Spring break is a great chance to recharge, rejuvenate, reflect and prepare for that final push those final three months and just again get ready for a for a great ending to the school year."

Upcoming events include Killarney School's production of Fiddler on the Roof at the end of April.

"And in addition to that band concerts are coming up and now in these last few months, we'll be doing a lot of field trips and getting out and about enjoying the warm weather and nature in May and June," shares Wiesner. "And then in June getting ready for graduations. Those are coming up quickly as well!"
