The RCMP are investigating an incident involving a dirt bike driven inside an Okotoks high school on Friday (March 28) morning.
Kerry Welsh, principal of École Secondaire Foothills Composite High School (FCHS), briefed parents on the incident in an email.
A person reportedly entered the school through the door near the drama space, with help from two others, and left through the modular doors.
"Not only was this action irresponsible and disrespectful to the learning environment, but this was also an extremely dangerous act, that fortunately, did not cause harm to staff or students," reads the email.
The act, described in the email as "[operating] a motor vehicle with reckless disregard for public safety," has been reported to the RCMP, and the school intends to work with police during the investigation.
FCHS will also adhere to the Foothills School Division’s Administrative Procedures in order to adhere to the division's responsibility to safety.
"Each member of our learning community has the responsibility to ensure a safe, welcoming, caring, and respectful learning environment. We thank our community for their participation to maintain a safe school environment," reads the statement.
