A 63-year-old man from St. Paul, Minnesota is in custody following a collision late Saturday afternoon.

The multi-vehicle collision happened just before 5 p.m. near Waverley Street and the Perimeter Highway.

Winnipeg police say the man, who was impaired at the time, was travelling east on the Perimeter Highway in a 2021 Honda Ridgeline and failed to stop at the intersection of Waverley Street, colliding with the rear of another vehicle, causing a multi-vehicle collision.

A youth female passenger in the vehicle that was hit was taken to hospital in stable condition with serious but non life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was not injured.

He is now facing impaired driving related charges.

The suspect was cleared by the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and taken into custody by officers.

He remains in custody.
