The Okotoks Oilers just squeaked into the BCHL playoffs over the weekend.

The Oil were sitting in 8th place in the Interior Conference heading into the weekend with only a three-point lead on the Spruce Grove Saints.

Both teams had a pair of games lined up so the Oilers would have to get at least one point over two games to outright make the playoffs.

However, the Green and Gold lost both games, but the Saints won one but lost their other game by one goal; therefore, the Oilers are going to the playoffs.

The Oilers dropped their Friday night game at Viking Rentals Centre 7-3 to the Brooks Bandits and lost 5-4 to the Saints in Spruce Grove on Saturday.

The Green Army can now buy tickets as the Oilers are lined up against the Penticton Vees in the first round, best of seven series.

More information about dates and times for round one is expected today.
